Today Elise tried out her first pair of jeans. They were so cute on her! We went for a walk this evening - it was beautiful. Last weekend we had John's parents visiting & we celebrated Marnee's birthday on Friday, Sept. 21st. We also drove up to Blowing Rock, NC in the mountains for the day last Saturday & drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway and browsed at some cute little shops in the town. Our dishwasher went out that same weekend- or rather it just kept running and running and not finishing the wash cycle, and so it was such a blessing to have them here and John's dad helped to install a new one. I decided that was one appliance I didn't want to live without for very long - especially with a baby! Other than that,
we're just staying busy with everyday life. Elise's schedule right now has been really nice - she goes to bed around 7:30 or 8pm after her bath, then wakes around 5am to feed, then goes back to sleep until 8:30 or 9am; we get up, eat, play for awhile & read and then she starts to get a little tired, so she takes a morning nap from 11 - 12:30pm & gets up; plays some more then eats again around 1:30pm & takes another afternoon nap from 2-5pm; eats & spends some time in the evening with us & then it's bath time and to bed again. She seems to need this rest. She is really taking in the world & studying things more intently. Now when we carry her, she no longer wants to look over our shoulder - she turns her torso to see where we're walking or what we're doing. She's also started noticing us when we're eating & beginning to be a bit interested in that. We have her 4 month check up in a couple weeks, and I suspect the Dr. will tell us to begin rice cereal. My parents will be coming for a visit also in a few weeks - Oct. 11-15th. We're going on our church choir retreat to Blowing Rock, and so they are coming along to help take care of Elise. It should be a beautiful weekend to be up in the mountains. I've been doing more reading lately and enjoying that. I've read a few more from Ted Dekker as well as Robert Whitlow. I'm on the waiting list at the library for Karen Kingsbury's newest books, too. John is finishing up his classes & has really enjoyed them. He continues to be a griller-extraordinare! If you're in town & want some of the best grilled steaks you've ever tasted - he's the one to see.

I may be influencing her since I'm with her all day? It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon & we all took a long nap & relaxed for the evening.

Here is Elise sitting for the camera. She has on an outfit that her aunt Debi picked out for her...thanks, Deb! This has been a very long week for us. I got sick at the beginning of the week - sore throat, runny nose and small cough - and now this weekend I wonder if she's got a few of the symptoms, too. She's just not quite been her chipper self. She'll smile for us, but only a few a day, otherwise she kinda has this blank stare - and she's been more fussy. Poor girl. I've been checking her temp, but it's still normal, so we're just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. Also, I've put up a picture of my morning glories. This was the first year that I didn't plant any, but they're blooming the best I've ever seen in our yard. This next weekend we're expecting a visit from Oma & Opa - John's parents. They're flying in Friday and staying until Tuesday. We will all try to get better and be healthy for a fun weekend. We've been taking lots of evening strolls - the weather has finally given us some cooler temps to get outside and enjoy. Today it's 85 and sunny with no humidity - and feels more like a Fall afternoon. John had the first couple classes at CPCC this week, and he has an interesting professor, which makes the 3 hour class more enjoyable. That is about the extent of our week. Have a great week!

John shot these photos for Elise's 3 month pictures on Saturday. We have friends who have a photo studio in their home, and so we visited them and had so much fun! Elise was a great sport and held up very well. It's hard to believe she's already so big. We'll try to take more video of her - especially since the grandparents are wanting more
to view. She went to the church nursery for the first time this morning and did great. This is great news for her parents who sing in the choir and have 2 services to sing at. Our weeks keep ticking by, and she just keeps growing. At her 2 month appointment mid-August she was 11 lbs 14 oz & was 24 inches long - tall girl! I'm just trying to keep up with all the pictures and labeling them so that I know when they were taken and how old she is, and getting a select few into albums or frames. This alone feels like a full time job. :')
